By now, I am sure everyone in the Lake Havasu community knows that the entire English Village and London Bridge light up every night with thousands of twinkling lights. They will continue to do this every evening from dusk til 10pm through January 4th. But did you also know that there are two 2014 Havasu Tree Lighting Ceremonies going on this weekend as well? It’s true!
What: Tree of Reflection Lighting Ceremony
Where: The Island Mall
When: Sunday, December 7th 4pm
Contact: Paula Anderson, Alzheimers/Dementia Connection of Havasu (928) 855-6000
This Sunday, right in front of Barley Brothers at the Island Mall, the Alzheimers/Dementia Connection of Havasu will be lighting their Tree of Reflection. This tree is meant to honor the men and women that have suffered from Alzheimer’s or dementia and their families. Admission to the ceremony is absolutely free. However, if you are in a giving mood, a donation of $10 will get you a star on the tree.
What: Wheeler Park Tree Lighting Ceremony
Where: Wheeler Park (1801 McCulloch Blvd)
When: Sunday, December 7th 6pm to 7:30pm
Contact: Donna Best-Carlton, City of Lake Havasu (928) 453-8686
The official City of Lake Havasu tree lighting ceremony takes place at Wheeler Park this Sunday. Please be aware that automotive traffic on McCulloch Blvd (between Riviera & Capri) will be closed from 4:30pm to 8:30pm especially for this event.
These two 2014 Havasu Tree Lighting Ceremonies are just one part of a weekend filled with Christmas cheer. Between the Boat Parade of Lights through Bridgewater Channel on Friday and Saturday evenings, the Jingle Bell Walk ‘N Run, Winter Faire & Bargain Sale, Bark for Life Cancer Walk and the Toys for Tots Golf Tournament on Saturday and the Soroptomist House and Garden Tour, Performing Arts Choir’s Community Christmas Concert and the River Riders Annual Toy Run on Sunday, you are going to be hard-pressed to find anywhere in our Lake Havasu community that is not touched by the Christmas spirit this weekend! Happy holidays.
